33 Intercontinental Cup trophies in Sarajevo
The third circle of Intercontinental Advertising Cup was judged last week in Sarajevo instead of Pattaya, Thailand as it was previewed. No-Limit Bosnian advertising festival hosted the jury.
13 cups went to Ibero Americas creatives, 10 to Asia Pacific's and 10 to Europeans. The most awarded agency was Almap BBDO Brazil, which thus won the Genius Loci Cup.
906 entries were short listed from finalists and winners of biggest regional advertising festivals: Asia Pacific's Adfest, Iberoamerican Fiap, Art Directors Club of Europe and Golden Drum, New Europe.
Jury*, led by Milka Pogliani, Chairman of European Creative Council EMEA, Chairman and Executive Creative Director, McCann Worldgroup, judged all the entries with unique and very rigorous judging system developed by Michael Conrad, Chairman of Berlin School of Creative Leadership. All entries were considered three times, first in the Products and Services section regardless of the media, second in the Best of Media section and finally in the Best of Admaking section.

The Grand Cup, the highest ICAC award, goes to GT Inc Japan for Sagami Rubber condoms for “Love distance” campaign. The CUP jury agreed that ‘Love Distance’ was the perfect example of a campaign that is fresh and unique, yet firmly rooted in local culture.

‘Love Distance’ shows a real-life young couple in separate cities, 1000 km apart running towards each other so they can be together. The campaign was a huge hit in Japan, where the entire country became captivated by their love story as it rolled out over one-month on the Internet. When the product name ‘Sagami’ was finally revealed, sales soared.

The CUP is the only global festival in the world that specifically celebrates GENIUS LOCI, the spirit of the place. The mission is to protect and to praise locally inspired creativity – the richness of language, culture, superstitions, beliefs and rituals that make each region unique.
All awarded entries will be tomorrow at ADFORUM, XIPAX and all participating festivals' web sites as well as on www.thecupawards.com.
