Jan describes the beauty of his profession as "a leap of the imagination with a commercial consequence." He believes in design as a way of improving the world, and he appreciates visual narratives as cultural amplifiers between people and brands.His background lies in Fine Arts. His work has been showcased and featured in art spaces as well as in international art and design publications and online Mags such as ArtSchoolVets!, Computerlove, IdN, Netdiver, Reform & Revolution, TASCHEN and The FWA.
A decade ago he fell in love with art's Siamese twin, advertising, and earned his first stripes as an Art Director at several digital startups in Berlin.
In 2008 Jan was appointed Creative Director of argonauten G2, Berlin, one of Germany's top creative digital hot-shops. There he developed and supervised Digital Campaigns for international Brands like Allianz Group, Coca-Cola, Volkswagen, La Prairie, Pernod-Ricard, Procter & Gamble Prestige Fragrances and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. He helped the Office to win international assignments like the multi- award-winning Digital Concert Hall (Live Streaming Platform for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra), the global Design Framework for Volkswagen and (working alongside colleagues from Atletico Berlin and Grey London) the Digital Activity for Allianz Group's Global Brand Communication.
He has won numerous international Awards such as LeadAwards, Art Directors Club Global, New York Festivals, One Show Interactive, LIA Awards, First Place Mobius Award, FAB Creative Excellence Award, The Webby Awards and The FWA Site Of The Day.
He has spoken at Major Conferences including OFFF, International Festival for the Post-Digital Creation Culture in Lisbon and the Golden Drum Awards in Portorož, Slovenia, and he served as a Member of the Panel of Judges in the Category 'Best Creative Design and Usability' at the 2009 German IPTV Award as well as in the Category 'Best Design' at The Hive Awards 2010. Jan also served as a Member of the Interactive Jury at the Golden Drum International Advertising Festival 2010, where he also took Part in the Interactive Laboratory.
In 2011 Scholz & Friends Berlin offered Jan the Digital Creative Lead in their first truly integrated unit. In a Culture where Off- and Online add Fuel to each other’s fire, Jan is looking forward to imagining and realizing products, communication strategies and services that magically integrate analog and digital aspects.
